I was at the studio last nite and I was talking with the engineer there, #shoutouts to dave, about MPCs and MPDs. He brought up a name, Roger Linn, that i have never heard of before, and what a shame on me. So, I did a little research on Roger Linn and found out that he was the pioneer for inventing the first drum machine(LM-1 Drum Computer). This drum machine was the first machine to sample and actually have drum kits stored/loaded in it. Now, think about this, where would our music be without this invention. Where would hiphop be? Nowhere, thats the answer. Roger Linn did us hiphop lovers, samplers, and indie/experimental lovers all a favor. #shoutouts to Roger Linn. p.s He also did wonders for the quantization feature on the MPCs. God bless this man.
